I certainly won’t argue with authorities like Stephen King. No matter what you think of his stories, his book about writing, titled oddly enough, [easyazon_link identifier=”1439156816″ locale=”US” tag=”craiturn06-20″]On Writing[/easyazon_link] is brilliant. No single book motivated me more to write. But it’s not a motivational book, it’s a broad guide to the art, craft and practicalities of writing. The book also gives a great insight into how Stephen King takes ordinary fears and turns them into horror. The [easyazon_link identifier=”B008MT9YQ2″ locale=”US” tag=”craiturn06-20″]audio book[/easyazon_link] is narrated by Stephen King and he does a really good job of it. If he wasn’t an author, he could probably have been an actor.
Stephen King puts Strunk and White as the definitive guide to writing clear and concise English. But reading a style guide can seem pretty boring, so perhaps the video below will serve as a concise introduction.
